Community backs club’s Ukraine appeal!
The Worth Valley communities stepped back up to the mark and backed the club’s latest collection in aid of the people of war-torn Ukraine.
Past President Gary Gardner who led the club’s latest collection of donated goods at Haworth Masonic Hall on Saturday, September 7th, described the results as ‘wonderful’ and ‘well worth doing’.
Members of the clubs plus volunteer Albie Gardner, Gary’s grandson, took in donations of many different products that will soon be heading out to the people of Ukraine.
It is the second time that the Rotary Club of Haworth & Worth Valley has staged a collection in aid of Ukraine. In 2022 they arranged for a lorry load of products for mothers and babies together with some medical supplies.
Club President Peter Oddy said: “Everybody at the club was appalled by the recent missile attacks on the Ukraine and wanted to do something to help. And the Worth Valley villages responded magnificently to our appeal.
“We’d like to thank the Lodge of the Three Graces in Haworth for allowing us to use their Masonic Hall on Mill Hey, Haworth as a collection point once again. It’s very generous of them.”
